Fairhouse Primary School

Respect and Success for All

Sports Premium

At Fairhouse, the PE curriculum is rich, varied, exciting and challenging.  We aim to develop and extend pupils' range of movement, agility and coordination through the six areas of the PE curriculum:

  • Athletics
  • Dance
  • Games
  • Outdoor and adventurous activities
  • Swimming
  • Gymnastics

The Sports Premium (£9525) has enabled staff to develop expertise through coaching provided by the James Hornsby Sports Partnership.   Our pupils have benefited from a vast range of techniques and activities from the Partnership and that has encouraged participation.   Funding provided, has enabled us to modernise the PE equipment available for children. As well as the Sports Premium Funding we have invested money from the curriculum budget to further enhance our sports provision.

School football and outdoor games clubs, which take place after school, are well attended.  To encourage physical activity for pupils who need support to develop coordination skills, we run 'Team Fairhouse' club and a daily early morning 'Wake Up Shake Up' club.

We have been successful in engaging pupils in physical activity through participation in PE and after school activities.  Our house system encourages competitive sport which is led by our Sports Coach.  In addition to a teaching responsibility throughout school, our coach enables pupils to access more opportunities to engage in local competitions and activities.  We plan to validate our work through achievement of the 'Sainsbury's School Games  Kitemark'.

In selecting how to use the Sports Premium, we ensure that any improvements are sustainable.
